LASC is pleased to have the privilege of continuing our partnership with Cross International. In 2021, we worked with Cross International on ten projects in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, and Nicaragua.
Community Transformation
Hope of Life: MilaGROW – This is a Year 1 of a 3 year Community Transformation project that focuses on increasing the yield of coffee farms through improved agricultural practices and training, construction of five chicken coops to provide fertilizer for crops and an additional source of food, construction of latrines and implementation of water filtration, construction of 30 homes and 3 clinics, as well as spiritual training skill building within the community for 497 beneficiaries in El Milagro, Guatemala.
World Concern: Site Selection Pipeline Process for Community Transformation – This funding provided the opportunity for assessments to be completed in five communities in Haiti in order to create a village profile on each community, evaluate its suitability for long-term, integrated development programming, and select the first community for a Community Transformation project.
Other Relief & Recovery Projects
Alfalit- Dominican Republic: Read and Write for Hope – This project provided Basic Literacy courses to 1200 adults in the Dominican Republic for 9 months in an effort to help them reach third grade literacy level.
Arms of Love: Transform for Future Sustainability – This provided support to a community development project in Nicaragua designed to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children who have been removed from broken and abusive homes and placed in the care of the Arms of Love residential protection program.
Cross International and Hope of Life Community Transformation Staff Positions – This provided funding for a Community Transformation Manager for Cross International and a Community Transformation Manager for Hope of Life.
Foundation for the Children of Haiti: Christian Technical Education Center of Haiti- Mining for a Future – This project allowed the opportunity to build a security perimeter wall for the C-TECH campus in Haiti in preparation for addition of classrooms that will be used to train young people in mining.
Foundation for the Children of Haiti: New Academy of Excellence – This project provided support to approximately 150 students receiving primary school education, special education and nutrition and health programming in Haiti. It allowed for an expansion for the library and computer lab in order to provide more expansive educational services.
Haiti Opportunities: From Servitude to Hope – This project provided 175 children with a female goat and training for developing the herd to provide income generation and provide them with the ability to pay for their secondary education.
Mission of the Evangelical Baptist Church Associates: Skills for a Future – This project provided support for the Feeding Program in Haiti for 650 youth and to help expand the computer lab and provide thirty youth with computer literacy training.
Together In Christ: Renovation for Opportunity – This funding supported the renovation and expansion of the Together In Christ Residential Home and the Canaan Christian School in Haiti
